This is a common interest group within the general membership of the Cockburn Power Boat Association and is open to all members of the Club.

The aim of the Dive Group is to promote safe and enjoyable scuba diving activities as well as a social forum where members of similar interest can discuss their sport and experiences through regular managed dive events.

The Dive Group meets at the Club on every Third Sunday of the month and arranges a dive compatible with the prevailing weather conditions. If there is a strong wind warning for any part of that day, the event is automatically cancelled.

Only qualified scuba divers are permitted to participate in diving events, but non diving skippers and "deckies" are welcome to join in.

The main activity is a ‘Crayfish Competition’ where points are awarded to each diver for the best two (legal) crayfish weighed in at each comp day during the Cray season. At the end of the season a trophy is awarded to the highest scorer, and another trophy for the largest crayfish caught in competition.

Another competition activity is the ‘Robbie Drew Underwater Photo Comp’ where underwater photographs taken during the year are judged upon composition, technique, and pictorial interest.

Other diving activities run by the Dive Group include

·        HMAS Swan dive at Dunsborough (a weekend away).

·        Night Dive on the D9 Barge

·        Jetty Maintenance and Marina activities

The goal is to keep activities as informal as possible, but with safety as paramount. To this end Newsletter Dive Report articles are focused on fun and highlight local diving hazards that have been observed.

Any divers who may wish to join in on group activities are welcome and enquiries can be made to  Lynsey Carter, Commodore or the Secretary.
